Our Adoption Policy
Paws and Whiskers attempts to find loving homes for our feline friends with families or individuals who intend to keep their new family member completely indoors.
· We ask that you bring in a picture Id with your address on it. (Also for age verification if there is a question as we do not adopt to anyone under the age of eighteen)
· If you rent a copy of your lease so that we can verify that pets are allowed
· Your landlords phone number so that we can verify information
The first step of the adoption process is to stop in, look at our selection, and have one of our feline friends choose you. You will then be asked to fill out a short interview application.. After review, if the application looks OK to our adoption coordinator we can proceed with the adoption.
Our basic adoption fee is $70.00, however we have a number of cats that have been sponsored and go home with you for a little less. Pure breeds usually have a fee of $150.00 or more depending on condition, age, and breed.
Kittens less than four months of age and four pounds are not old enough to be spayed/neutered by our veterinarian. Due to past problems with adoptive parents not being responsible and having their new feline friends spayed/neutered then returning them with a litter of kittens as of January 1st, 2008 we require a $50.00 spay/neuter deposit with eack adoption of a kitten less than four months of age. This deposit is refunded upon showing proof the that the kitten has been altered.
All adoptions include:
Ø A box carrier to transport your new feline friend home
Ø The cat is spayed or neutered if over four months of age
Ø Complete copy of the cats medical history
Ø 4 way vaccine up to date at time of the adoption

Ø 4 pound bag of the food the cat or kitten has been eating

Ø Certificate for a low cost spay/neuter if kitten is under four months of age
Ø All adults are Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency tested Kittens are tested for Feline Leukemia only.
Ø All cats and kittens are tested and treated for internal and external parasites
